Membership
Mellowcroft is a private retreat, and is not open to the general public.
To access Mellowcroft's land and facilities requires guest membership. This costs £5 per event, for a person, couple or family.
Guest membership can be taken by people who come here as part of a workshop or event, by those who take an arts sabbatical or volunteer work placement. Guest membership is also for visitors who are accompanied by a "Friend of Mellowcroft". Guests are asked to give their name and contact details.
"Friends of Mellowcroft" are people who have visited the land, and made a good contribution here. They are empowered to book the land, for group events or retreats, and also to nominate artists and workers for sabbaticals. They are also invited to make a £10 yearly donation to the project, the financial bedrock for this project. Mellowcroft's future is shaped by its friends.
Because of this unique form of funding, Mellowcroft retains its autonomy, and can grow organically, held and directed by its friends.
All money received goes into the land, to fund the conservation work we do, the tree-planting, traditional ridges and wildlife habitat creation. As a social enterprise, Mellowcroft also funds organic community allotments, the volunteers and sabbaticals, and our ongoing eco-builds.
To fund Mellowcroft from afar, you are welcome at any time to use our donate button.
Over the next few decades, we are hoping to develop and pioneer a new model of land-use, of responsible open custodianship, and to encourage similar projects all over Wales. For a long time, land has been coveted, under-used, and inaccessible; but perhaps in changing this simple thing, we can change much more.
We look forward to you joining us.
